Australia / Malaysia : Continental Ships DRM-Ready Transmitters

Broadcast operators in Australia and Malaysia have both chosen Continental Model 418G-DRM transmitters for recent upgrades.

Transmission-services company Broadcast Australia ordered two DRM-ready 100 kW Continental Electronics transmitters for two of its shortwave stations. This is the first step by Broadcast Australia to enhance its digital shortwave broadcast capabilities.

The transmitters will be used to broadcast analog and digital programming from Broadcast Australia sites in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory, and Shepparton, Victoria. Both transmitters are expected to be on air by late in 2011.

State-owned public broadcaster Radio-Television Malaysia (RTM) ordered three 100 kW DRM-ready HF transmitters from Continental along with associated equipment. The units are to be installed at the RTM Transmitting Station at Kajang, and are to be on air by year-end 2010.
